Card machines for cafés and coffee shops

Busy mornings, small payments, queues out the door. You need a card machine that's quick at the counter, easy for staff and costs you less on every coffee.

What cafés need

Built for small, fast payments

Most café sales are small and contactless. That changes what matters in a card machine deal.

Fast contactless

Cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay in a tap, so the queue keeps moving at the morning rush.

Fees that suit small sales

On a £3 coffee, a per-transaction fee matters as much as the percentage. We look at both when we quote.

Next-day settlement

Yesterday's takings in your bank the next working day, to cover stock and wages.

FAQ

Café card machine questions

Straight answers for café and coffee shop owners.

Talk to our team
What's the best card machine for a small café?

If customers always pay at the counter, a countertop terminal like the PAX A35 linked to your till is simple and quick. If you serve at tables or have outdoor seating, a portable terminal like the PAX A920 Pro lets staff take payment wherever the customer is.

How are card fees charged on small café payments?

Most deals have a percentage of each sale plus a small fixed fee per transaction. On low-value sales the fixed fee can be a big share of the cost, so compare both, not just the headline percentage. Our card machine fees guide explains each charge.

Can I switch if I'm still in a contract?

Often, yes. Send us your statement and we'll look into it. In some cases, subject to approval, we can help with the exit fee.

Will it work with my till or EPOS?

Our terminals work with many UK EPOS and till systems. Tell us which one you use and we'll confirm before you switch.
